Maths Enrichment for Year 6-9 students @ Centralian College in the Gateways Area

Thursday 5 August, 3:15 - 5 pm

Dr Ian Roberts, a mathematician from Charles Darwin University in Darwin will be attending as well as a number of local teachers. The last session in Term 4 last year was a great success with 40 students attending.
We will aim to start with pizzas at 3:15 again, and will finish by 5:00 pm. Students will work on some interesting Mathematics problems, with support from Dr Ian Roberts and local teachers.
For catering and planning purposes, can one person from each school RSVP through to say how many students and teachers are coming from your school by midday Thursday. This is important when it comes to ordering the pizzas at about 12:30 pm on Thursday.
There will be a meeting for interested teachers with Ian Roberts on Wednesday afternoon to discuss plans for Thursday afternoon. We will meet at Sporty's Bar in the mall at 4:30 for afternoon tea. Let me know by email ASAP if you can come to the planning meeting.
For catering purposes, please RSVP to matt.skoss@ntschools.net with student numbers from your school.

Maths Professional Learning Community PD for classroom teachers @ Centralian Middle School in the Staff Room, Friday of Week 3 & 6, 5 - 7 pm, followed by dinner at a restaurant (to be announced) and Saturday, 9 am - 12 noon, followed by a light lunch

Dr Ian Roberts will continue to work with local teachers on their mathematical content knowledge. Participating teachers will contribute their ideas on how to make the ideas work well in a classroom. This is a continuation on from similar events over the last two years. The mathematical ideas shared by Ian Roberts have relevance for the classroom, and are accessible to students across primary and secondary stages of schooling.
For catering purposes, please RSVP to matt.skoss@ntschools.net with staff numbers from your school.
